We got busy here over Easter. I put the plans for the lounge together! Mood board done, paint & primer bought, wall measured, picture ledge on order! I can't wait to see it come to life. The plan is that while me and Baby L visit my family, hubby will keep busy and tackle the painting and install my long desired picture ledge/shelf. And I will do the styling when we return. Something great to look forward to! The major changes are in the walls and accessories. Our lounge is currently nice. New and nice. But I'm really looking for cosy stylish grey walls with a wall-to-wall picture ledge that will tell a story and complement the contemporary white furniture and big inviting comfy...
Ombre has been around for a while now, and it's gone from curtains to bedding, rugs to vases, to pretty much every soft furnishing and accessory you can think of. So naturally, it has been taken to the next step... and it can not only accessorize a room, but be the theme and feature of it. Ombre flooring and wall coverings are in, I was pleased to see during my visit to the Ideal Home Show last week that it was featured in the room sets designed by Sophie Robinson. Ok, we don't 'spend time' in the hallway, it is pretty much where we put our shoes on and rush out, or the opposite (rush in/shoes off), it is a functional space, which needs clever storage to look inviting and tidy at all times. I am in the process of designing some of the clever storage, and in the meantime I am also deciding on the wall finish - and geometric wallpaper seems to be winning on my list! I have shortlisted my favourite ones below, and will be making up my mind on...
Two years ago we bought our first home and moved in to what was a blank canvas, literally! We got a brand new property which meant not only nothing needed doing (in terms of dirty work!) but all the appliances, kitchen, bathrooms, carpets, windows (I could keep going) were brand new - exciting and highly recommended! So our blank box needed some character and personality added in! Having lived in rented flats for the last many years, I had so many ideas that I almost didn't know where to start! My sensible husband knew we needed sofas, a bed and wardrobes as a starting point instead of fancy mirrors and wallpaper - but how tempting was that right? So how do you know what to...
